I just wanted to say a few words about Dustin Harryman and Flex Appeal! First and foremost, I have to give a HUGE shout out to my personal trainer Dustin Harryman. Dustin and I got together early November 2011 and I told him I wanted to do Ironman Louisville. At this point I was pretty heavy but had a big desire to lose weight and get in shape not only for this race but moving forward! Boy, was I in for it! He mapped out what I needed to do, talked about nutrition (which was a huge issue with me) and what I would be going through mentally. Nine months of training came down to ONE day! He prepped me every step of the way and I’m so thankful for that. Very instrumental to my success in becoming an IRONMAN! More importantly, Dustin stuck with me through athlete check in and walked me through preparing all my bags, checking my bike and kept me calm the days ensuing. He even went as far as to be with me the day before(as I mentioned), morning of Ironman, during Ironman through transition. He met me and cheered me on, WAAAY out on the bike course and run course. Even better, he was at the finish to greet me as I crossed the finish line. I can’t say enough about him and what a great job he’s done! You ROCK!

I HIGHLY recommend Flex Appeal to anyone that’s interested in pursuing their fitness goals whether it’s triathletes, crossfit weight lifting and anything in between. They stand behind their athletes and I appreciate that more than you know! I could go on and on about Flex Appeal and their staff. Motivated staff and even better people. Thanks guys, for all you’ve done for me and I will be back training for another Ironman next year…………of course with your help!!!

Where to begin?! Flex Appeal and Dustin Harryman have changed my life! LITERALLY!! I begin with my weight and my lifestyle out of control. I had developed terrible eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle. It had been years since I had exercised or followed a food plan of any kind. In the meantime, I developed diabetes Type 2 as well as other health problems, so I decided to make some changes.

This is the point where I met Dustin and enter Flex Appeal. I told Dustin my situation and he went right to work. Dustin has helped me get on a food plan that works with my diabetes and with my weight loss goals. He has me working an exercise program that not only helps me lose weight but helps me gain strength and endurance. I can’t believe how beneficial working at Flex Appeal and with Dustin has been. Dustin has become my trainer, my encourager, my coach and my friend. He has helped me gain the confidence I need to continue this plan for the long haul. You see, I want to go hiking in the Smokey Mountians in September. He has me convinced, because of his enthusiasm, that I can do it! He tells me he wants me to do a 5k next. I think that may be down the road but I also think it will become a reality because of the support I have to get the job done! I would recommend Dustin and Flex Appeal to anyone! The sky is the limit when it comes to what you can accomplish!

I met Dustin in March of 2012 through a boot camp I had joined. I had committed to a 5k mud run. I knew I was going to need some help to survive it!

As a non-athletic beginner, I was extremely nervous about starting boot camp. Dustin immediately set the tone for his classes with an upbeat, encouraging, and positive attitude. He trains his clients with a “you can do it” attitude, rather than the “tear you down” approach! Even though the sessions were extremely challenging, the exercises change every day (I call it ADHD exercise) and it is possible to set your own pace. This helped keep me interested. As well, Dustin is great at motivating me to push beyond my limits when needed.

After about 6 months of boot camps and seeing significant bodyshape and strength changes, I decided it was time to do something different. I approached Dustin about personal training and the real journey began. We sat down and set a goal: to run the Kentucky Derby Festival Mini-Marathon. As a triathlete, Dustin did an amazing job of strengthening my legs as needed (eliminating some pre-existing knee issues) and building endurance. He provided me with a running schedule, strength sessions, and all of the encouragement I needed. With his help, I completed not only the 2013 KDF Mini, but also the entire 2013 Louisville Triple Crown of Running.

In the beginning, I was almost unable to do some of those boot camp exercises. Today, I’m so much stronger and have so much more endurance that I am sometimes shocked by what I can do. On top of all of this, it is awesome to run into friends I haven’t seen in a while who comment on the noticeable changes, most recently “he doesn’t even look like the same guy.”

With 13.1 in the bag, it’s time to focus on a full marathon. I’ll be 40 in November. I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m setting a goal of 26 before 40. And I know, with FlexAppeal and Dustin’s help, I’ll get there! If you’re reading this, thinking it’s time to get fit, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend FlexAppeal.
